Viskan cookie policy

What are cookies?

Viskan uses digital tracking technologies to collect information about how visitors move through and interact with our websites. We do this to measure how well our websites perform and to show relevant content.

To recognise a visitor during a session and on return visits, our websites place a small file, known as a “cookie”, through the visitor’s browser.

Why does Viskan use cookies?

Anonymised statistics

The website you visit generates anonymised data that Viskan uses to improve its websites. When we use cookies in this way, we do not collect or process personal data. Instead, we use aggregated statistics to make better decisions.

More specifically, the anonymised data describes general activity and how the website performs. For example, Viskan measures how many of our visitors read the cookie policy. If the results show that few people read it, that gives us the insight we need to consider ways to make it more visible.

Another example is that we use anonymised data to measure which parts of different web pages are most popular with visitors. We do this by creating so-called “heat maps” of visitor activity. We use that analysis to organise content or improve the logical structure of our websites. We also use cookies to identify returning visitors and show them content they were interested in during their previous visit.

The anonymised data we collect includes:

  • Browser and device information.
  • Geographical information, limited to city/town level.
  • User behaviour on our websites, for example the journey from the referring page to the landing page and then to the exit page, whether certain pages were scrolled and how far down, whether videos were viewed and for how long, and which links were clicked.
  • Public company information.

This anonymised data helps us measure how popular our content is and decide how to develop our websites further, both technically and in terms of content.

The anonymised data is not shared with any third party other than subcontractors who place and manage cookies, including Google Analytics and Hotjar. Anonymous data is processed in line with the security and privacy requirements set out in applicable legislation.

What types of cookies are there?

There are different types of cookies, used for different purposes. First-party cookies are used by the domain owner and include necessary cookies that enable the website to function or create a good user experience. Third-party cookies belong to a domain other than our own and are used, among other things, to give us insights into visitor behaviour so we can improve our website further.

Cookies are also divided into persistent cookies and session cookies depending on how long they remain active. A persistent cookie is stored on your computer until it expires or you delete it. A session cookie is deleted when you close your browser.

How can I avoid cookies?

I do not want cookies used for anonymised statistics.

You can block cookies through your browser settings. However, this may affect how the websites function.

Here are links to information on how to do this in some of the most common browsers:

You can also manage your cookie settings via our website.
